If you love the idea of “shop till you drop” then Korea should most definitely be one of your must-see destinations in 2013. January 11 to February 28, 2013, is the time when you have a date with Korea. This is the time when the Korea Grand Sale 2013 will be going on, offering discounts on products, stays, food, beverages and shows for all foreign tourists.
Started at the patronage of the Visit Korea Committee, tourists will get to savor the best that Korea has to offer at never before prices. Tourists staying for a minimum of 3 or 4 nights at listed hotels will be eligible for an extra night’s free stay. Nearly 50 top hotels from across the country are going to participate in this offer. They will also offer several other discounts on food & wine during the celebrations.
The Korea Grand Sale is in its third year and the huge participatory turn out from major retailers, duty free shops and convenience stores is going to make this year the grandest yet. Leading departmental stores such as Galleria, Lotte, Shinsegae, Hyundai, duty free shops such as Dongwha, Lotte, Shilla, Walkerhill and the Korea Tourism Organization is also going to participate. A larger number of representative shopping malls including the Doota, Hello apM, Gimpo Airport outlet and premium retail outlets such as Yeoju & Paju will be taking part.
This is not going to be a shopping only mega event, but will also bear cultural touch through the showcased performing arts events promoted by Visit Korea Committee. This will allow international tourists to enjoy the cultures and heritage of Korea as well.
The Visit Korea Committee will be holding a special event at Myeong-dong which will showcase a number of Korea’s special attractions including special food events and makeup tutorials. A gala opening ceremony has been planned which will be followed by A K-POP concert. Special theme weeks have also been planed for each of the vendors participating in the event.
Han Kyung-Ah, Executive Director of Visit Korea Committee, mentioned that this festival is a celebration of the fact that 10 million international tourists visit Korea every year. This is a token of appreciation and an opportunity taken to further popularize Korea in the world map as a destination par excellence for a foreign vacation. The Korea Grand Sale is aimed to become a major shopping and tourism festival in Asia.
