Tiger Airways Announces new Managing Director

Australian budget airline Tiger Airways has announced the successor to its current Managing Director, Shelley Roberts.

Crawford Rix, previously head of British airline bmibaby, will relocate to Melbourne in the near future to take up the role. While no official start date has been announced as yet, the move is expected to occur in the near future.

“We are delighted that Crawford will be joining us later in the year. With his experience and track record, he will be a great asset to the business,” said Tony Davis, Tiger Airways Holdings Group CEO.

“Shelley has established Tiger Airways Australia as a major national airline, and led it from infancy to profitability. After completing her hand-over to Crawford, she intends to take a well deserved break.”

Ms Roberts took over Tiger operations during 2008, after the operation was started by Chris Ward in 2007.
