Singapore Airlines and Virgin America have entered into a codeshare agreement with each other. As a part of this agreement, Singapore Airlines’ customers will be able to enjoy a smoother travel experience to a number of new destinations in the USA come December 19, 2012.
Singapore Airlines will be using the prefix ‘SQ’ for all Virgin America flights that will be serving the following destinations – Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Portland, Philadelphia, Seattle, Washington D.C. and San Diego originating from SIA’s West Coast hubs of Los Angeles and San Francisco. SIA currently operates 45 flights to each week to the following points – Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, New York and San Francisco.
Mr. Chin Yau Seng, Singapore Airlines’ Acting Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, mentioned that the United States is an important market for SIA and this codeshare agreement is going to pave the road for further exploration of the same. At the same time, for travellers on a SIA flight, it means more options to additional destinations in the USA. Travellers well acquainted with Singapore Airlines’ award winning service are going to love the fact that can now enjoy a smooth transition to wherever they want to go in the USA after disembarking at the SIA hubs.
Mr. John MacLeod, Senior Vice President for Planning and Sales at Virgin America mentioned, while welcoming this agreement, that SIA’s passengers will now have extended connection options when they fly to the USA. This arrangement with one of the largest and most celebrated airlines in the world is a testimony to the quality of their own product and service. He also welcomed the move which was just in time for the holiday season welcoming Singapore travellers to the USA.
Tickets for the codeshare agreement are currently available for all journeys commencing on December 19th, 2012.
