The Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG) Chef hat awards awarded the coveted hat for the Snowy Mountain Region to the Cuisine Restaurant at Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa. This was the only hat available for this region and its awarding makes the Cuisine one of the finest restaurants in Australia.
Scott O’Neile, the General Manager of Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa welcomed the award and said that the team had worked really hard for the past one year to achieve this objective and they are happy that they did manage to win it.
He also went on to mention that the executive chef Greg Pieper is a very committed chef and one who is not shy of experimenting. To his credit he has been instrumental in winning of the coveted Chef’s Hat several times in his career with other restaurants.
When Greg came aboard in 2011 one of his goals was to ensure that the Cuisine Restaurant at Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa becomes the best restaurant in the entire Snowy Mountain region and to establish that fact he wanted to win a few chef hat awards.
The AGFG Chef Hat awards have been awarded to Australian restaurants since 1982 and are one of the most coveted awards in this sector. The awards are given out after a careful analysis of the food and the dining experience by AGFG inspectors who dine in complete anonymity. Together with their experiences expressed in their reviews and the vote of the general public the final decision is made and the awards are given out.
The Cuisine is a lovely place to dining with breathtaking views overlooking the Lake Crackenback and a menu that features mainly classical items with a touch of inventiveness that can be attributed to Chef Greg Pieper. Greg is one of Australia’s finest chefs. Before he decided to join Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa he operated a restaurant in Northern New South Wales. The restaurant won three chef’s hat awarded by the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide, a fourth star from the Courier Mail Good Food Guide awards and a third plate from Restaurant and Catering New South Wales for being the finest informal restaurant in the northern region. Chef Greg was also named Chef of the year four times on the trot by the Gold Coast Magazine Awards.
