What’s better than watching the largest mammals on the face of the Earth making their annual trip past Sydney to the warmer waters of the north for calving? – To get a whale watching guarantee so that if you don’t spot a whale on the trip you get to make the trip for free again! Captain Cook Cruises comes back with yet another season of whale watching; spotting the giant creatures of the deep making their way towards the Great Barrier Reef.

Whale watching cruise dates starts from May 18th and continues till November 19th with the maximum chances of spotting a whale happening around the time of Winter Solstice (June 22) when the number of whales passing these waters is at its traditional highest. Passengers will be treated to a visual spectacle watching the whales in a playful mood jumping and splashing in the water often within 2 Kms of the coast. Additionally they will cruise past some lovely Sydney landmarks such as the Sydney Opera House, Fort Denison, and the Sydney Harbour Bay before heading out for open waters and enjoying their time watching these mighty mammals.

After calving in the waters around the Great Barrier Reef the whales will embark on their return journey back to the cooler waters of Antarctica. This return leg of the journey starts between August and September. The whales will once again pass Sydney en route to the home in Antarctica.

The cruise will take place on ocean-catamarans, which features two decks having open-air viewing for maximum field of view. For those who love the comfort of a more controlled environment, there is a lounge with weather conditioning, suitable for the entire family to sit and enjoy the cruise.
