For visitors planning to go to the Rally Australia, there is finally some good news. General public ticket sales have been formally announced as open by Minister for Tourism and Major Events, George Souris. The Coates Hire Rally Australia will be held for the second time in three years at the NSW Coffs from 12-15 September 2013 and the buzz around it is already picking up. Mr. Souris has a piece of advice for the general public though, make your travel arrangements early as there is going to be a big rush around this major international event.
He also mentioned that the NSW Government is working through its tourism and major events agency to build on the phenomenal success that they had back in 2011 when more than 13,000 visitors came to the Coffs Coast to witness this international event, generating a total of 64,000 visitor nights.
This year, estimations are rife that Rally Australia will be watched by an international television audience in excess of 77 million. It will be a perfect moment to showcase regional NSW and bring the best in rally racing to a global audience.
Mr. Souris also mentioned that the organizers of the event have estimated that the 2013 Coates Hire Rally Australia will be able to make a net economic impact of $12 million to the Coffs Harbour region.
Also speaking on the occasion, Coffs Harbour MP Andrew Fraser too advised interested visitors to make their travel plans in advance to avoid disappointment. He advised travelers to come early and take some time off to travel to the NSW Mid North Coast for a fun outing with the family. He insisted that this family friendly event is a great opportunity to enjoy a wonderful weekend with the entire family.
This event will not only benefit Coffs Harbour area but is also likely to have an impact on the overall economy of the state. Needless to say this is a great opportunity for the entire region to showcase and for the visitors to explore what else NSW has to offer.
Mr. Fraser also pointed it out how the NSW Government is promoting the tourism sector of the state and living up to its commitment to doubling the overnight visitor spending target by the year 2020.
Also speaking on the occasion Destination NSW CEO Sandra Chipchase mentioned that Rally Australia is a great event, one that is going to showcase some of the world’s best rally drivers in action. They will be here trying to negotiate and conquer the courses through some of the state’s most rugged and yet beautiful landscape.
Ben Rainsford, Coates Hire Rally Australia Chairman mentioned that this year the organizers have planned some interesting additions, one that is going to increase the excitement levels. He went on to add that a new concept of the Rally Hub just one block from the Coffs Harbour CBD and including the Armor All Super Special Stage is going to be a major attraction this year. This location will be a excellent vantage point for watching all the action and to soak in the atmosphere. He added that the organizers are very keen on making a great impression on the WRC community so that always feel like coming back to the Coffs Harbour for future editions of the Rally.
