QANTAS next-generation check-in trials start in Perth

QANTAS has announced that it will begin trials of its next-generation check-in system called Q-card this week.

The all-new Q-card check-in system allows travellers to ‘touch-on’ to check-in at the terminal, opposed to lining up and waiting for customer service.

In addition to an easier check-in process, customers will soon be able to check their own baggage and attach their own baggage tags, saving considerable amounts of time spent lining up at the airport.

QANTAS executive Alison Webster said, “Next Generation Check-in has been designed to deliver an enhanced check-in experience for our customers – providing greater speed and ease through the airport terminal by eliminating airport queuing,”

The trial will expand to Sydney later in the year, with Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra and Melbourne to follow soon after.

What do you think of the new system? Hopefully it fares better than Victoria’s failed myki system.
