The Radisson Blu Hotel Sydney raised well over $30,000 in its third annual Charity Gala Dinner. The money was raised for the World Childhood Foundation, an organization with which the parent body, the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has shared a long standing relationship. Radisson Blu Hotel doubled their commitment towards fund raising for their cause by establishing an annual event.

The World Childhood Foundation strives to make a difference in the lives of those children who are the most marginalized, the ones who are normally forgotten and ignored. Their work touches the lives of mostly the street children, the ones who are living in different institutions, the ones who have been sexually abused and the lives of young mothers.

As a part of the hotel’s Responsible Business Strategy all proceeds from the sale of tickets at the gala dinner, monetary donations and money raised during the special event will be donated to the World Childhood Foundation to support them in their cause.

General Manager Peter Tudehope mentioned while speaking on the occasion, “Another successful year with over $30,000 raised, we set ourselves the challenge to make the same impact on deprived children again and we did it again this year.” He also added that, “The continuous support of our business partners is of great importance and we thank all our main sponsors and helpers that agreed to assist again. Also I’d like to thank my hotel industry colleagues without your continued support we could not raise these much needed funds.  Always committed to attaining environmental and social sustainability, together we can make a difference.”

The Gala Dinner was not limited to being a somber fund raising event only, as an array of entertainment packages awaited the guests and made it a night to remember.  Radisson Blu Hotel Sydney’s star chef Oswin Ribeiro mesmerized the guests with a tantalizing 3-course menu while Gareth McCray, the famous radio personality, lend his voice. Some absorbing solo musical performances were given by David Sanders and the hotel’s very own Nuratni Radrizzani capture the imagination of the audience with a fantastic phoenix dance performance. Also arranged were a silent auction of special items and lucky door prizes to keep the guests entertained.

Radisson Blu Hotel Sydney has committed to celebrate September as a Responsible Business Action month. 86 Carlson Rezidor Hotels have already signed for this and promises to reduce their carbon footprints and help to make a difference in the lives of children who are at risk in different communities around the world. In a similar effort last year 4000 employees from 62 Carlson Rezidor hotels had joined hands to plant 5700 trees, donate more than 1000 units of blood and offering 13 jobs for physically challenged persons. They also raised more than $50,000 for various charitable organizations. As a result of their combined efforts 65 communities across Asia-Pacific were benefited.
