WestJet, a Canadian airline took the term ‘Secret Santa‘ to an all-time high! The airline surveyed 250 travelers from Hamilton International Airport and Toronto International Airport. The purpose was to find out what those passengers wanted for Christmas then, covertly surprise them with a personalized Christmas delight.
An interactive Santa Claus asked travelers what was on their Christmas list. Passenger’s ‘wish list’ included everything from socks and underwear to Android tablets.
After tallying all lists, WestJet changed from baggage handlers and customer service reps to Christmas elves, shopping for gifts and wrapping them most of the night. Over 150 employees participated, as they frantically worked to present its passengers with their personalized present!
Once travelers stepped off the plane and headed to baggage claim at the Calgary Airport, they were in shock and awe when WestJet staff greeted them with their fantasy gift.
The 4-month project was such a success and so popular, WestJet turned it into a commercial. The airline is also giving away 5 flights to families that are in need once their commercial goes viral and masses over 200,000 views. WestJet is currently making good on its promise as views have reached well over 2 million.
