What is going on with these so-called, magnificent, travelling, flying machines today? Delta Airlines is the most recent casualty of ‘I lost my wing somewhere over Atlanta’ madness!
Travellers were jolted to alert by a ‘roar’ Sunday (March 16, 2014), when a portion of the wing ripped away from the aircraft.
Flight 2412, from Orlando to Atlanta was on schedule to its destination when passenger David Watterson recounted to ABC News – he was almost fast asleep when he heard a bang, only to discover a panel from the wing of the aircraft had blown off with hydraulic fluid seeping out of the opening. Mr. Watterson quickly captured a picture and posted it on Twitter.

Mr. Watterson said, though passengers did not seem agitated by the state of the flying vessel, it was “concerning to see a big chunk of the plane missing.”
Anthony Black, a representative for Delta was quick to point out the plane was never in any danger or threat from flying or landing.
“The crew, knowing that, followed procedure by declaring an emergency to air traffic control as they were landing, which gave them priority clearance to land and alerted ground crews,” Mr. Black said.
Delta reported, no one was hurt from the incident and flight 2412 landed safely at 7:30PM.
