Tourism New Zealand has decided to use the charismatic charm and personality of Megan Gale to promote cycling to the Australian market!
The organization has appointed the Australian actress, TV personality, model, and swimwear and homewares designer as its first ever ambassador. The announcement was made at a Sydney press conference on Wednesday, February 10.
Gale will promote The New Zealand Cycle Trail (NZCT) that includes more than 2700 km of pristine cycle routes that present many fascinating and beautiful sights of the country. She will also endorse The Great Rides through a new social and digital campaign.

With strong family ties to New Zealand, Gale is an Australian talent who has a successful career as a model, actress, and businesswoman for more than two decades. After revealing that cycling is a part of her exercise routine, she said that she is proud to be the Ambassador for Tourism New Zealand’s cycling campaign.
Tony Saunders, the Tourism New Zealand General Manager in Australia, said, “We are confident Megan’s influence and authentic connection to New Zealand will increase awareness and preference for New Zealand as a world-class cycling destination.” He said that bringing Gale on board would probably increase the number of Australians travelling to New Zealand to enjoy the country’s diverse cycling trails.

Tourism New Zealand has singled out cycling as an activity that can draw more seasonal visitors to the country during autumn and springs. The government and local communities combinedly invested more than NZD$80 million since 2009 for the development of NZCT.
