Etihad Airways has brought another destination to their Airbus A380 network. After launching daily scheduled flights in London Heathrow, Sydney, and New York, Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport has become Etihad’s forth destination to feature its award-winning The Residence – the first service in the world that has three-room suite on a commercial airliner.
The Flight EY204 flew from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai on May 1 – the Maharashtra Day in India. Vice President Commercial UAE, Mohammed Al Bulooki, and the airline’s senior management team flew on the inaugural flight. The officials from GVK – Mumbai airport operator – and the airline welcomed Mr Bulooki and his team with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony but excluded the customary water salute due to the current water crisis in the State of Maharashtra.

Etihad has partnered with their Indian associate Jet Airways to launch the A380 daily service. The flight will operate in both directions between Mumbai and New York JFK International and the passengers will get US customs pre-clearance in Abu Dhabi.
The Chief Executive Officer and President of Etihad, James Hogan, said that their airline has always been an endorser of the Indian aviation industry and their latest initiative demonstrates their commitment to ensuring superior products and services for the travellers.
Etihad owns 20% market share of Jet Airways and the two carriers work on a codeshare basis to operate 254 flights a week from 15 Indian destinations to Abu Dhabi and major cities across the Continents.
Captain Ramesh Krishna, First Officer Irfan Rizvi, and 22 all-Indian cabin crew were on the charge of the inaugural A380 Mumbai flight.
