Los Angeles breaks visitation records for the fifth consecutive year

A record number of 45.5 million visitors travelled Los Angeles in 2015, announced by Eric Garcetti – the Loa Angeles Mayor – and Ernest Wooden Jr. – the CEO & President of Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board (L.A. Tourism) on Saturday, June 4.

According to a press release from Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board, the whopping number of tourists has broken the California city’s visitation records for the fifth consecutive year. In comparison to the year 2014, the number of visitors increased by 2.8% and the surge was visible in case of both domestic and international visitation. A total of 6.7 million international visitors and 38.8 million domestic visitors made L.A. their last destination in 2014.

Mayor Garcetti said that the reasons behind L.A. being one of the favourite tourist spots are their more than billion dollars investment on improving the airport, mass transport, and other infrastructures. He also added that the city is a connecting hub for those people who want to celebrate attractions and enjoy diverse cultural experiences.

Mr Wooden Jr. congratulated the city’s hospitality community for their great work in increasing the number of visitors. He said that 45.5 million people visited L.A. in 2015 because of the hard work and dedication of those businesses and individuals. He hoped that the city would be able to welcome 50 million visitors by 2020.
