Who says that corporate world doesn’t care about anything else than work? The InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort marathon team is here to prove those people wrong!
The marathon team for the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort is all set to participate in the Cold Coast Airport Marathon 2016, which is going to take place this July. It will be the third consecutive year for the resort to be a part of that event. A total of 18 people from InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) will take part in the running competition.
The friendly running competition has inspired the resort team members a lot because the number of members has grown over the years. The team members have seen the joining of new interstate colleagues this year – three team members from Sydney’s IHG corporate office and three colleagues from Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley and Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise.

Karin Sheppard – IHG’s Chief Operating Officer for Australasia & Japan, and InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort’s General Manager, Monique Harmer, are also taking part in this event. Ms Harmer said that taking part in that marathon as hotel employees really inspires a healthy work/life balance because hotel business demands 24/7 engagement by nature. Ms Harmer’s daughter, Grace, will also participate in the 2km Junior Dash. On the other hand, it will be the first half marathon for Ms Sheppard and she is super excited about it.
Apart from the Gold Coast Airport Marathon, the IHG team members will compete across a handful of races including Southern Cross University 10 km Run, Suncorp Bank 5.7 km Challenge, and ASICS Half Marathon.
