Qantas opens an international lounge at Brisbane Airport

Qantas unveiled their Brisbane International Lounge on Tuesday, October 18, giving their guests travelling from Brisbane a chance to relax and dine before their long overseas flights.

The national carrier of Australia has plans to add more facilities to the Brisbane Airport. The international lounge is the first one of that project of multi-million dollar upgrade. Gareth Evans, the International CEO of Qantas, said that the modern lounge, which imitates the natural beauty of the Queensland landscape through its design and decoration, is the perfect relaxing spot for their customers before taking a flight.

Qantas has been investing millions to improve their customer facilities in recent few years. According to Mr Evans, the lounge shows their commitment toward their work. They have already added new services to New Zealand and Japan, almost finished renovating their A330 fleet, and set for redesigning the domestic terminal lounges in coming months.

With interior design and food selection inspired by local culture, the layout of the new lounge is based on the award-winning Singapore and Hong Kong Lounge concept.

The lounge is more spacious than Qantas’ previous ones. Its furnishings sport a relaxing approach while the interiors are inspired by the Queensland landscape. Neil Perry, the Creative Director of Food, Beverage & Service of Qantas, designed the seasonal menus with a punch of local food culture.

A hydration station will quench the thirst of the customers before they fly. The guests will get a range of non-alcoholic beverages in Quench, a brand new lounge concept that will be applied to upcoming lounge renovation projects of the airline. The customers will also get coffee, premium wine, and craft beer in the lounge.

The lounge also features shower suites, TVs, Wi-Fi, a business centre, and a Sofitel service experience.

Qantas will launch a new domestic lounge at the Brisbane Airport in early 2017.
