A tour bus accident in California killed at least 13 people including the driver and injured another 31 people. The USA Holiday-operated bus slammed into the rear of a tractor trailer when returning to Los Angeles from the Red Earth Casino near the Salton Sea.
According to the police, they found no skid marks from the bus tyres during the time of the collision, indicating that the driver did not try to stop the bus by holding the brake. The accident happened in Palm Springs around 5:17 a.m. PDT on Sunday.

The news photographs published in various news media outlets show the front of the bus as a garbled piece of metal. Initially, police and rescue crews sent 31 people with injuries to hospitals. The driver of the trailer truck also sustained minor injuries.
Police identified the dead passengers except one male victim from a manifest put together by the casino. The bus driver was identified as the operator and owner of the tour company based in Los Angeles. The company used that bus to ferry customers to area casinos, and it was the only bus operated by them.
