Organised by the IRONMAN Oceania, the 2016 Noosa Triathlon is going to be held from 26 October – 30 October 2016. Last year’s event was the world’s largest mass participation triathlon, and the organisers have aimed to achieve the same feat this year too.
More than 800 participants joined the competition in 2015, which was enough to claim the top position from the London triathlon. The competition last year was an Olympic distance triathlon where the players had to swim 1500m, ride 40km, and run 10km.
Hosted in Noosa, the event was started in 1983, and has been regularly taking place all over these years.

Damien Massingham, the CEO of Tourism Noosa, branded Noosa Tri as the most iconic triathlon in Australia. He thought that the recent fame of the event for the largest mass participation would make more travellers enthusiastic about visiting the Queensland city.
Noosa arguably has one of the best coastal and aquatic experiences in the country. Mr Massingham said that the shift of the swim leg to Noosa Main Beach last year delighted both the players and the spectators. The venue will be the same this year too. He also stated that the newfound status of the triathlon event had cemented the city’s reputation as a leading regional events destination in the country.
David Beeche, the Managing Director of IRONMAN Oceania, sounded excited about the upcoming event. He said that last year’s mass participation had promoted the Noosa Tri to the level of world-class events, and they would do everything to hold onto that title.

Mr Beeche invited everyone to embrace the exclusive experience and atmosphere that Noosa has to offer. He also pointed out that the unique lifestyle and perfect climate of the region would tremendously help the participants to grow into serious athletes.
Along with the triathlon competition, the Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival features a line-up of events for all ages and abilities. Check NoosaTri for more information about the event.
