Some international travel buyers will get to enjoy first-hand experiences of Canberra’s unique attractions.
Meeting Place, the annual industry event of the Australian Tourism Export Council, is going to held in Canberra on November 29 and 30. A group of 34 Inbound Tour Operators has already landed in Canberra to attend the event this year. Besides, 350 delegates are going to join them.
The organisers have already taken those operators to the key attractions and experiences in the country’s capital. They explored the Eurobodalla/Sapphire Coast, Snowy Mountains, and Hilltops in Canberra and its surrounding regions.

In over 40 years of its history, this is the first time when the flagship ATEC event has set its foot outside Sydney. Ian Hill, the Director of VisitCanberra, sees it as an opportunity for boosting the tourism of the region.
According to Mr Hill, the event allows the influential tour operators to explore the diverse offerings of the Canberra region, which in turn will inspire them to create travel products and packages for enthusiast travellers.
Digital Futurist Chris Riddell, Tourism Australia CEO John O’Sullivan, and Boeing Asia Pacific’s Ron Kent will be the speakers at the event. Mr Riddell will deliver his speech explaining how important it is for the tourism industry to recognise and keep up with the consumers’ growing demand for personalised services.

Mr O’Sullivan will talk about the maintenance of Australia’s market share in a more-than-ever competitive tourism industry. On the other hand, Mr Kent will focus on the positive impact of next generation flights on long-haul destinations.
The iconic event this year will be held across four venues – QT Canberra, Pialligo Estate, Parliament House, and the National Museum of Australia.
