Qantas has brought another direct flight service just in time before the Christmas holiday! People now can fly directly between Melbourne and Christchurch without requiring catching any connecting flights.
Qantas launched the service on Sunday, December 4. It will operate daily flights between the two cities. The new route has been aimed to meet the demand for trans-Tasman travel.
Qantas Regional General Manager for New Zealand, Pacific Islands, & South America, Wes Nobelius, highlighted the advantages of the new service. According to him, the new route will benefit both the Aussie and the Kiwi travellers willing to explore both the cities.

Mr. Nobelius said that the new service from the flagship carrier of Australia would give travellers from New Zealand more options to experience the coastal capital of Victoria. On the other hand, travellers from Melbourne would now have easier access to New Zealand’s south island that offers exciting adventures and breathtaking scenery throughout the year.
Mr. Nobelius hoped that the new service would bring the people of the two cities closer, offering them to enjoy their renowned scenarios of food, arts, and culture.
The new service follows the airline’s increased number of flights between Brisbane and Christchurch. It also arrives in time with Qantas’ plan to increase its US and Asian network via Brisbane. Besides, the airline has already given Kiwi travellers easier access to London, Dubai, and a couple of different destinations in Europe.
