Samui Festival 2017 promises wonderful experiences with exciting events

The Samui Festival 2017, which is currently in its second year, will celebrate the 120th anniversary of the island. Ko Samui, the second largest island in Thailand, was founded in 1897.

The festival will host two events, a bike race and a full marathon, which are the trademark sports of the island, to highlight the occasion. These two sports ceremonies will headline a series of action-packed programs. The festival will go on from September 7 to 11.

General Prayut Chan-o-cha, the Prime Minister of Thailand, will be present to hand over the trophies to the winners of the sports events. While Dr Somkid Jatusripitak, the Deputy Prime Minister, will preside over the opening ceremony.

Tourism Authority of Thailand’s (TAT) Governor, Yuthasak Supasorn, expressed his happiness over the presence of the Prime Minister and his deputy in the event. According to him, the interest of the leading government officials proves the importance of the festival on the Thailand events calendar.

The Samui Festival is a celebration of the culture and style of the Southern Region of the country. Besides, the island is one of the top beach resorts in Asia. The five-day festival is going to create lots of buzzes because the TAT and local businesses from both the private and public sectors have been working together to organise this event.
