Get bushwalking experience with the Cooloola Great Walk

Tropical Treks offers a guided walking tour in Cooloola for five months on a fortnightly basis. The adventure lovers will be delighted to know that it will let them explore the 500,000-year-old Cooloola Sandmass and its exclusive water system, dune, and flora and fauna.

Tropical Treks is a Queensland-based tour operator specialised in small-group trekking. They offer the Great Cooloola Walk from April 22 to September 23 this year. There will be one fully-guided, 5-day/4-night tour at each fortnight. The 88 kilometres, self-sufficient trek connects Noosa Northshore to Rainbow Beach.

The Cooloola region is the habitat of the local Aboriginal Gubbi Gubbi people. The tour operator ensures that the guide includes commentary about the culture and heritage of the indigenous people throughout the tour.

Also, the experienced guides will call attention to the animals living in the Sandmass. You will get to see numerous wildflowers, plants, and some rare animals including Koalas, Feathertailed Gliders, Ground Parrots, and Wallabies. Lucky trekkers can also spot Humpback whales that migrate during the months of the winter season.

The weather during those months remains dry and mild, suitable for physical labour such as trekking. However, the participants need to have enough fitness to walk the long track and pitch their own tents.

Each group will allow only six travellers. You can book online from the website of Tropical Treks. The all-inclusive price per person is $1,595 but it will be $1,095 if you bring your own gear. There will be nightly accommodation with freshwater and toilets for all the travellers. Also, the itinerary allows plenty of time to watch wild animals and birds, enjoy the surrounding nature, and relax.
