The history of mountain biking in Thredbo is all set to attain a new height with the launch of a number of new trails and a number of new bikes making this an attractive proposition for mountain bikers.
World renowned trail designers, World Trail have taken the initiative to launch a new program, Thredbo Mountain Bike Concept Plan. The core plan of this initiative is to see that Thredbo becomes one of the most favored destinations on the world mountain biking map. World Trail is widely considered as one of the most respected names when it comes to eco-friendly and sustainable trail parks. Glen Jacobs, director and an avid trail designer himself, along with his team are going to design a series of trails using a number of cross country, downhill and skill based trails which are going to test the fitness and stamina of the bikers. Jacobs himself rode the trail that he is about to design back in 1992.
Thredbo is a mountain biker’s paradise. Vast open grasslands, bushy landscapes, challenging granite outcrops and a plethora of other landscape treasures that are going to take the biker’s breadth away. To boot, bikers can have an easy chairlift access to the top of the trail. The trail passes through the villages and all of them have great facilities.
World Trail will be designing biking trails to cater to the taste and preferences of all types of mountain bikers. Climbs, loops and descents will be carefully designed to ensure that bikers not only get to enjoy the trail itself but the breathtaking beauty of the country side as well. The Thredbo Valley Track will have something for all types of riders with challenging wet weather options and great downhill trails for the maximum amount of thrill. The entire concept and planning will be a three step process and is expected to be completed by February 2013.
Thredbo MTB is going to be a new business launched by the company which will be managing the Thredbo Mountain Valley Track and ensure that this trail emerges as one of the premier mountain trails in the whole of Australia. Needless to say efforts are already afoot to safeguard the future of the Thredbo valley and mountains through such programs and promotions. For example this year the Thredbo 365 pass entitled seasonal skiing enthusiasts with also a right of admission for downhill and cross country riding. For first time riders, additional exciting packages and pricings were also offered. A revamped infrastructure including a wider choice of mountain bikes, personal guides, medical facilities, training and other facilities are also made available.
At the moment the first stage or stage 1 of the Thredbo trail is going to be made available to riders starting 17th/18th of November marking the start of the mountain biking season in Australia. This should offer riders an amazing view of the valley and the Thredbo River along with several reasonably comfortable Kilometers of riding pleasure with smooth slopes. Along with that the intermediary level Kosciuszko Flow Track will provide a bit more thrill to a more reassured rider who wants to enjoy the rush of a downhill thrill minus the technicalities.
