With the recent opening of the Swissôtel Goa, Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts will add one more feather to their already decorated hat, a delightful new gem in their global portfolio of hotels. Swissôtel Goa opens in a place called Calangute just 16 kms from the capital Panaji and 1 hour drive from the Goa international airport. Eight three storey buildings house 135 spacious guestrooms & suites set in a tropical garden setting featuring Lilly ponds and a pool area at the courtyard. The main night-life attractions and the famous dining destinations of North Goa are but a stone throw distance from the hotel.

Rooms come in different sizes ranging from 31 meters to 72 meters and obviously depend on the category that you select. They are decorated with styling which evokes modern tastes. Other attractions of the hotel includes a night & day dining restaurant, fitness centre, pool bar, café, pools for adults and children, a club for children, plus arrangements for conferences and banquets. An exclusive beach club on the Calangute beach for guests rounds off the offerings.

The hotel is designed by Malaysian architects Chong Chee Ching and Greg Dall incorporates traditional Indian art by Indian artist Krishna Mehta. Rich amount of the artist’s works accentuate the architectural design throughout the resort and the lobby in particular.

Ceded to the Republic of India after a brief skirmish post the independence of the country, the Union Territory of Goa is India’s smallest with a population of only 1.5 million. This UT was dominated by the Portuguese in India and even today the influence is quiet easy to note. Known for its pristine beaches, wild night life, distinct Portuguese influence and the lovely fresh sea-food, Goa is an attraction that pulls visitors from all across the globe all throughout the year. Additionally, due to its proximity to the major international hubs of Mumbai (1 hour by flight), Bangalore (1 hour) and New Delhi (2 hours) Goa is often an important D-tour in the itinerary of most international visitors coming to the country.

With the launching of the Swissôtel Goa, the hotel & resort group has added yet another property to their already impressive Indian portfolio. The group has the Swissôtel Kolkata running plus three Swissôtels under construction in Mumbai, Noida and Bangalore. Meinhard Huck, President of Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts mentioned that these hotels have made their presence strongly felt in the scheme of things in the country’s international arrivals. Their partner in the new endeavour is the Convention Hotels India Pvt. Ltd. whose director Priyakant Amin was thrilled to announce that Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts are to manage this upcoming property in Goa.
