Thailand’s Warm Welcome for Every Millionth Visitor

The Thai tourism industry celebrated the arrival its 22 millionth visitor this year with an elaborate, traditional welcome.

The grand welcome was part of a campaign to welcome every millionth visitor to Thailand and promote the region as a popular tourist destination. The event was planned by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Thai Airways International Public Co., Ltd., the Immigration Bureau, the Airports of Thailand Public Co., Ltd., and True Corporation Public Co., Ltd.

The 22 millionth Thailand‘s Luckiest Visitor is Ms. Jin Haiyu from Beijing, the People’s Republic of China, who arrived at Suvarnbhumi Airport today with China Southern Airlines.

Ms. Jin was pleasantly surprised to receive two economy-class return tickets from Thai Airways International Public Co., Ltd., from her airport of origin back to Thailand, and a voucher for top-end accommodation for five nights. She also received a mobile phone with 3G sim-card and seven-day internet usage from True Corporation Public Co., Ltd. for use on the trip.

As part of a “Green Season” marketing strategy that began 30 June, every millionth visitor to the country is being welcomed at Thailand’s international aviation gateways.

The activity supports Thailand’s tourism industry’s “2015 Discover Thainess” campaign, which aims to highlight the endless charm of Thailand, the diversity of destinations, full flavours of Thai cuisine, fascinating uniqueness of the traditions and culture, as well as the friendliness of its people.

Tourism Authority of Thailand’s governor Yuthasak Supasorn said, “On behalf of the Thai travel and tourism industry, we would like to thank all international tourists visiting Thailand with this reward for their contribution. Rewarding the millionth visitor is just a small way of showing our thanks and letting the world know that we value all our guests.

We would also like them to recommend Thailand to their friends and families, relatives and colleagues. Thailand is and continues to be a wonderfully diverse tourism destination with great beaches, food, spas, hotels, nature, sports, and smiles. We are always ready to welcome many more visitors, both first-time and repeaters, to enjoy and fulfill every idea of your holiday in Thailand.”
