Sunshine Coast to host a series of events during the Easter holidays


Everyone wants to have chocolate eggs on the Easter. But, if you are a cheese and wine guy, head to the Sunshine Coast this Easter. There will be a free event on the Easter Sunday, April 15, which will be cheese-y enough for every cheese lover to be there!

The Kenilworth Cheese, Wine & Food Fest will host a cheese rolling competition, cooking demonstrations featuring Mary Valley produce, and an Egg Hunt for kids.

However, the Sunshine Coast will not only offer cheese and wine this Easter. The Ocean Street World Festival will hold a free event on April 16 where a number of artists would perform acts from India, Jamaica, Budapest, and Bolivia. There will also be choirs and workshops.

If you are up for some ‘wild’ fun, visit the Australia Zoo during the Easter break. The Irwin family will be there in the famous Crocoseum for the Wildlife Warrior show. There will also be pony trails, treasure hunt, and the Bindi and the Jungle Girls show.

If these activities don’t seem adventurous to you, join the the Pa and Ma Bendall Memorial Surfing Contest. Going to take place in Moffat Beach in Caloundra between April 14 and 16, it one of the oldest surfing competitions in the country. Some big names including Hawaiian legend Gerry Lopez, renowned Australian surfer and the designer of the three-fin surfboard Simon Anderson, and the winner of the World Surfing Championship Wayne (Rabbit) Bartholomew also took part in the contest over the years.

There will also be other events and activities including the treasure hunt at the Original Eumundi Markets, interaction with robots at Sunshine Coast Libraries, mini-medieval Olympics at Sunshine Castle, and more.

Simon Latchford, the CEO of Visit Sunshine Coast, said that the region had always experienced a surge of visitors during the Easter school holidays. The weather remain lovely in that time as it will be still quite summer-like for the southerners.
