Although the scenario has changed in recent years, the number of female adventurers still falls way behind compared to their male counterparts. World Expeditions decides to be an instrumental in bringing a change by launching a range of ‘women only’ active travel adventures.

The leading adventure travel company in Australia announced itineraries of total 21 small-group adventures. Sue Badyari, the CEO of World Expeditions, said that the initiative was a response to the growing number of women seeking adventures in a supportive and safe environment.

Ms Badyari said that participating in an adventure with a small group of like-minded adventurers would allow women to stay in their comfort zone while creating chances for some great lifelong friendships along the way.

In a statement released from World Expeditions, Ms Badyari gave a statistics showing that the number of female participants in their adventure tours jumped from 38% to 54% between 1996 and 2016. She said that female travellers are equally enthusiastic as their male counterparts to take part in challenging adventures such as mountain climbing, cycling, and trekking. In fact, female travellers currently make up nearly 30% of the tour group of World Expeditions’ most challenging adventure tours.

Both the enthusiasm and the growing number encouraged the travel company to take the game to the next level for women travellers. Their small-group ‘women only’ itineraries will take place in some of the most exciting, natural destinations across the world.
