Humpback whale interaction tours in Ningaloo continues in 2017

Great news for the whale lovers and adventure travellers! The Western Australia Government decided to continue the Ningaloo Reef Humpback Whale interaction tours in 2017.

Hon. Albert Jacob MLA, the Minister for Environment in Western Australia, announced on January 18 that visitors could enjoy those tours between August and November this year in Exmouth and Coral Bay on the country’s Coral Coast, WA.

The ministry offered trial tours last year from August to November to see the responses of travellers. It was satisfactory and encouraging to see 1,644 people joined those tours to have swimming experience with those ocean giants.

The whale shark operators in Ningaloo operated those Humpback swimming trips in 2016. The initiative helps them extending their business from the whale shark season, which lasts from March to June in Coral Bay and March to July in Exmouth, to the migration season of the Humpbacks, lasting from July to November.

Currently, the 11 whale shark operators in Ningaloo are the only operators to have legal permission to run the Humpback tours in WA. The prices of the tours vary from operator to operator, and the final price depends on the finalisation of the procedures on Department of Parks & Wildlife.

Some operators have already started taking bookings. Live Ningaloo will charge $550 per person and $5000 for a vessel that can accommodate up to 10 people. On the other hand, the prices at Ningaloo Discovery start from $350 per adult and $280 per children. You can email them to book a tour.
